About

Here comes another exciting Android meetup!

DAUG is bringing the community together for two fascinating talks by Martin and Eugen, both Android Engineers at ABN AMRO. Dive into the internals of Git and explore the possibilities of AI-driven development. There's plenty to learn, discuss, and meet your fellow developers in person!

Agenda:

  • 17:00: Doors open
  • 17:30: Food & drinks
  • 18:20: Introductions
  • 18:30: Martin Rodriguez: Two decades of Git - A look inside its history and database
  • 19:15: Short break
  • 19:30: Eugen Martynov: My AI and I

Martin Marconcini Rodriguez, Android Engineer @ ABN AMRO
Two decades of Git: A look inside its history and database

Git is often described as a version control tool, but at its core it is a content-tracker database. In this talk, we trace Git’s history from its origins in 2005 to its position as the most widely used distributed version control system today. We look inside its object store, where every file, directory, and commit is saved as an immutable object identified by a hash, and see how these objects link together into the history we use every day. We also explain the design decisions behind this model, and how it lets Git handle large repositories and very active development at scale. Attendees will leave with a clear mental model of what happens under the hood when they run git commit.

Eugen Martynov, Android Engineer @ ABN AMRO
My AI and I

Asimov needed three laws. I needed a few more.
Asimov wrote three laws for his robots. I wrote a couple of prompts, adjusted some documents, occasionally looked at the code, and used the product like any other customer.
The experiment was deliberately extreme: don't write a single line of code. And a bit of curiosity — will it keep working while I'm asleep? (It does. A scheduled agent picks tasks off the issue board every four hours.)
The result is Deposit, a Kotlin Multiplatform app for bottle-deposit machines in the Netherlands: Android, iOS, a web version and a backend, with a surprisingly rich feature set and real users. This talk is the experience report — the key ideas that made it possible, what worked, and what was awful. Yes, there were bugs.
For Android developers wondering where we can get to soon — or at least which direction we're heading

How to get there?

Public transport:
Tram and bus stations at walking distance

Car Parking:
Company parking can be used.
If you would like to use the parking, please share the license plate numbers in advance. Send a DM one day before the meetup to the host (Bakhtar Sobat) via Slack or via comments on the Meetup page.
