About the talk
Trillions of microbes live inside your gut, quietly steering your digestion, immune system, and even your mood. Yet we aren't born with this inner ecosystem - in fact, even identical twins share only about 20% of their gut microbiome.
So where do these tiny passengers actually come from?
The journey doesn’t start on your plate. It starts in the ground beneath our feet. Soil isn’t inert dirt holding plants upright; it is a breathing, thriving microbial jungle. The diversity living underground travels straight through the food system into our bodies. In a very real biological sense: we eat and drink the soil.
In this edition of Think&Drink, the scientist-led collective UNRAVEL brings soil biology out of sterile research facilities and into The Science Camp for an interactive, sensorial evening exploring the underground world fueling your health.
What to expect?
An interactive talk that connects soil, food, and your gut, with live demonstrations and some surprising twists along the way.
What you’ll leave with
Soil remains one of the least understood, least valued parts of our food system. We are on a mission to show you the fascinating world of soil, and make you fall in love with it!
Anyone can join, no experience or expertise required.
