Sessions & Speakers
Sovereignty, a love story
A story about love, betrayal and hope. By Martijn Kuiper
In this personal, (hopefully) humorous, and technical session, I'll take you through my journey from unconditional Microsoft love to a more independent approach to data and analytics.
We'll explore what sovereignty actually means for Microsoft Fabric, where the real dependencies exist, and what happens when you start building an open-source data platform alongside the technology you still love.
This isn't a breakup story about abandoning Microsoft. It's about learning to make conscious choices, embracing open standards, and designing for portability.
Understanding digital sovereignty beyond data residency; recognizing architectural and operational dependencies in Fabric; exploring open-source alternatives; and using portability to preserve freedom of choice.

Fabric Stuff nobody checks - but you will do first thing tomorrow! by Henk van der Valk
Running Fabric in production requires monitoring, optimization and some troubleshooting too. While supporting customers I have build extra checks for relevant items that are typically overlooked: like refresh challenges: where are refresh spikes hitting due to concurrency issues? What are refresh duration rates? What refresh errors occur & where? Which workspaces have not been refreshed last 90 days and could be cleaned up to save space?
What other bottlenecks are typically overlooked?
You will learn it all!

As always, we're looking for speakers. So, if you have an interesting story to share, please submit your session to our Call for Speakers If you're a first-time speaker, don't worry! We are more than happy to help you taking your first steps in the wonderful world of public speaking. Also, for all sessions submitted and not selected, we will keep a list of all sessions for future events.
